Landing My Path in the Workplace as a Trans Person

Let me tell you, working through the job market as a trans professional in 2025 has been quite the journey. I've lived it, and to be completely honest, it's become so much more accepting than it was back in the day.

My Start: Starting In the Professional World

The first time I transitioned at work, I was absolutely scared out of my mind. No cap, I believed my job prospects was done. But plot twist, my experience went far better than I expected.

My initial position after coming out was in a tech startup. The energy was absolutely perfect. Everyone used my chosen name from the beginning, and I didn't have to encounter those uncomfortable interactions of continually correcting people.

Fields That Are Truly Welcoming

From my experience and networking with fellow trans professionals, here are the sectors that are legitimately putting in effort:

**The Tech Industry**

This is still such a weird thing we are forced to think about, but bathroom access matters. Check on restroom access in the hiring process. Quality organizations will already have clear policies and single-stall bathrooms.

This is often essential. Transition-related services is prohibitively expensive. As you job hunting, for sure look into if their benefits package supports HRT, surgeries, and therapy services.
